Moonlight Mahjong Lite 1.1

Moonlight Mahjong Lite version 1.1 is now available on the App Store. This version adds a new background (the full version has a few more), and replaces the "Two Bars" layout with a new one called "Mini Pyramid".  Mini Pyramid is an example of a smaller layout that fits on the screen well; it's a better layout for first-time and casual Mahjong Solitaire players or those with limited time, and so it makes sense to have it in the Lite version. Sorry, but adding a new layout to the Lite version rather than replacing an existing one was just not an option; as many people have pointed out, the Lite version is already too generous. "Two Bars" is still available in the full version of Moonlight Mahjong, which is only $4.99...  less than the price of a movie ticket, and you get a lot more entertainment.

P.S. I suppose I should also note the passing of the original "lite" version icon (the one that had a single tile on a parchment background). Moonlight Mahjong Lite now uses a version of the full version icon with "lite" labelled over it. There are a couple reasons for this; the biggest is simply to make the relationship between Moonlight Mahjong and Moonlight Mahjong Lite more obvious in the App Store. Another reason is that the lite version icon was a little too similar to the Shanghai Mahjong icon, and might have been causing some confusion. (It might be worth noting here that our single-tile icon came from an actual screenshot of the game.) I'm ever so slightly sad to see the single-tile icon go, but in a recent poll readers of this blog preferred the full version icon over the single tile icon approximately 70% to 30%, so I don't think it will be a problem for many.
