All this is really pretty simple, but I admit I haven't yet made it as blindingly clear as I should. The free "Lite" version of the game has only a few layouts. The $4.99 full version of the game "Moonlight Mahjong" has more layouts - twelve, at the moment, including some pretty cool ones that you won't get in any other non-3D Mahjong variant.
I've tried to make this more clear in the descriptions on the App Store. And it will take a little longer, but eventually I'll make this even more clear within the applications themselves.

hello, just wanted to drop you a line to commend you on the lite version of the game, I think the model is exactly right, and it might be worth apple making some kind of category or easy marker to illustrate that apps are using the marker.
I think it is absolutely right that the lite version should remain as is, but more features in the full version will be crucial. As a long term addict of solitaire style games, here are some suggestions:
1) stats. I'm sure this has already occurred to you, but honestly the more fun you have with this the better:
a) win/loss count both for each shuffle (I.e. Repeat plays) and across all games. Also be good to break this down across layout types.
b) graphs of the same/charts etc
c) ability to compare with friends and/or against the onlne community. A simple email interface for comparison might help for promotion as well.
d) rss/facebook/fill in social network of the day here modules again to show off your obsession.
e) how about some kind of difficulty score based on the shuttle. Dunno how well your algorithm for the tile shuffle lends itself to this, but I got nicely caught out by two tiles the same being on top of each other which screwed me (to the point where I shouted to my girlfriend 'I found a bug' until I thought about it for a moment)
2) more options:
a) random layout selection after each game vs same layout vs cycle through a specific list of preferred layouts
b) photo backdrops?
c) option to save really hard shuffles (and maybe be able to send them to friends as challenges?)
The more there is to differentiate between the two versions, the more compelling the upgrade ;-)
Apologies if this is all stuff you've thought of. I am off to buy the full version because frankly I think you probably deserve my money already, but I hope you plan to continue development along the lines above as it will make it better and better!
Without answering everything there, I'll say I like suggestion 2c quite a bit. It's similar to something I'm already working on, the ability to email around custom layouts, but takes it in a nice new direction. Unless there are technical reasons why it won't work, I'd look for it in a few weeks.
